A Welcoming Guest Room

As more and more people are vaccinated, we’re seeing heartwarming reunions between grandparents, parents, and kids. It’s amazing to finally be able to welcome relatives back into our homes. To create welcoming spaces that will show them you care, try these tips for your guest rooms.

Better Bedding

It’s probably been a year since anyone has slept in your guest room, so check the bedding. You want to offer a selection of pillow types, fabulously comfortable sheets, and the perfect blankets or duvet (or both!). Your guests deserve the best night’s sleep possible, and a comfortable bed makes all the difference.

Bedside Manners

Bedside tables are important, of course, but so is what you put on those surfaces. Guests will appreciate a good reading light. You could also include a dish or bowl for rings, watches, or their phones. And the best touch is to place fresh flowers on the nightstand. They offer a natural look and a special welcome that shows you care.

Book Club

Another great welcoming idea for a guest bedroom is a stack of books. I like to include a good selection of fiction, non-fiction, short stories, and larger coffee table books. That gives my guests something to look through before bedtime or when they just want to relax.

Mirror, Mirror

If you can offer a full vanity as I did in a bedroom above, your guests will be thrilled. But even if you don’t have room for that in your guest bedroom, do at least provide a mirror. Your guests will appreciate a place to apply makeup, check their outfit, or fix their hair for the day.

Take a Seat

A comfortable chair, preferably with a light throw and extra pillows, is perfect in a guest bedroom. It creates a quiet sanctuary for them to read, or offers a perch they can use for putting on shoes.

As you can see, the key to a great guest bedroom is comfort. Your guests should feel as welcomed as possible when staying at your house, so think about all the thoughtful touches you can include.

I hope you’re able to have great reunions with your family, too!

All the best,

Kara
