Home Tour: Joyful Interiors

Downsizing a home can be emotional, especially as you sort through so many memories and mementos. It can also be a very freeing time because you can clean out things that no longer serve you and start fresh. For a recent North Carolina home I designed, my client was definitely looking for a new start and wanted a home full of color and joy. Let’s talk a walk through the happy interiors…

One of the best things about a life well lived is that you will have some amazing pieces that you’ve gathered along the way, like antiques and art. My client had an incredible collection of both, so it was a matter of selecting the best items to move into her new home. She was excited to be surrounded by her favorite things, and we brought in modern additions like the custom hand-knotted rug and a fun cheetah print runner to accent her art collection.

The living room is a neutral space that’s full of personality. From the art to the books to the fresh pops of color, this room gives you an idea of exactly who lives here. She’s chic, elegant and fun-loving. The mix of classic and traditional forms with more modern lighting and patterns offers a balanced style.

A beautiful painting in the dining room inspired the bright and happy palette. We used a play of patterns on the drapery, chairs, and floor to lift and balance the look of the traditional dining table and sideboard.

The kitchen is a traditional space, updated with a gorgeous blue and sleeker, more modern details. My client loves to entertain with family and friends, so we crafted a wet bar directly off the kitchen. And a keeping room allows people to gather for conversation in this heart of the home.

I wanted to design spaces for my client that will serve as a beautiful backdrop to create new memories. That was definitely our goal for the family room, where I layered color and texture to craft a welcoming interior that is perfect for holidays, game nights, and great conversation.

I wanted the primary suite to serve as a serene oasis for my client, a place for her to find respite and to recharge. A soft green palette sets the mood, while we kept the style very tailored with quietly feminine touches.

This home has a fantastic front porch with lovely arches, as well as a Summer Porch addition that is surrounded by beautiful landscaping. I created gathering spaces that are perfect for a meal al fresco or relaxing with friends on a summer evening.

Our client loves her joyful new home where she’s surrounded by her favorite things. Those new life chapters are the perfect time to rethink how you’re living in your home. If you need a fresh start, give my team a call!

All the best,
